2005 Newmar Kountry Star
This item is a 2005 Newmar Kountry Star model 3910. It is Diesel ”pusher” with a 330 HP Cummins ISC engine driving an Allison six speed automatic transmission. It has 137,000 miles on it. Don‘t let that bother you, the unit is rated for 500,000 miles. It is 25 years old; don‘t let that bother you either; it is good to go.
The unit is built on a Spartan Mountain Master chassis, and has safely carried us for a lot of miles. The only reason we want to sell it is that the principal driver, me is now 82 years old and cannot drive it any more. Too bad, but it happens to all of us, eventually.
This is an AIR RIDE coach. There are no springs to support the chassis. When the engine is started and the air compressor has reached full pressure, the air presser will support the chassis.
The system allows for a smoother ride than any steel springs can provide.
The pictures give a lot of details, but some features to point out in no particular order are that the unit was upgraded to an 19 cubic foot Samsung electric refrigerator, with a bottom freezer and an icemaker. This works really well. The refrigerator is wired to run off of the inverter, the generator or campground AC, and will switch automatically to the correct source.
The dinette has two separate chairs. The dining table has a hidden table extension, which will open the space significantly. The added table extensions mounted under the windows allow for more usable space.
The living room has a divided recliner with power settings for each side. A drop-down table to the left side allows a place to put coffee cups. The other end has the dining table for that purpose.
Opposite the recliner is a cabinet, this has space for the Dish Network tuner/receiver and whatever else you want. There are two storage drawers underneath.
To the right side of the TV there is a switch to operate the drive for lifting for the 50” television into position. The TV has a sound system attached. This allows the TV signal to broadcast through four speakers mounted overhead. These speakers give much better sound than the built-in TV speakers. One feature of this installation is the RM Mogul mounted on the roof. This allows you to touch a button and the RF Mogul will automatically come alive and find the correct satellite and then shut off. The screen will show a menu and allow you to select the program you prefer. All of the locals are shown, as well as many other selections. The satellite receiver can record several channels at once, so you don‘t need to worry about missing a show. It is the highlight of this coach. Be sure to retract the satellite when you travel.
To the right of the TV is the kitchen; not much to talk about there. There is a three-burner propane range with covers. The usual microwave oven is mounted above.
The kitchen sink is an upgrade; the original dollhouse sink has been replaced with a stainless sink and faucet with sprayer. This gives much more room for washing pans and dishes.
Continuing around past the kitchen the shower is located on the passenger side. The water fixture is an upgrade. It has the usual controls, and a switch to turn off the flow, rather than resetting the flows when you want to stop for a moment.
The vanity is a nice feature; it allows one partner to set up shop there and the other partner to set up on the opposite side. This saves a lot of conversation during the day.
Following around, we get to the bedroom. It has a queen-sized bed, with a memory foam topper. It is quite comfortable and the two opening windows on the end allow for good ventilation. And speaking of ventilation, the variable speed overhead fan is really nice when you don‘t want the air conditioners on. There is a remote for the overhead fan, with five speeds and reverse to change directions. The fan is very quiet so you will not be disturbed by running it.
The automatic washer is located in a cabinet near the end of the bed. It is a Splendide unit and is very reliable, and service is available virtually anywhere. We particularly like that the unit is self-contained. The wife can load it, start it, go shopping, or exploring, and come back to clean, dry clothes.
You may notice numerous places where small additions have been made to allow parts placed to stay put. Most notably near the sinks and near the bedroom.
This brings us back to the refrigerator. The fridge has several separators to keep items in place when you are traveling. The refrigerator is large enough for two to four people, without frequent trips to the grocery store.
In the front bay is a 13-foot telescoping ladder. This is mostly used for installing external screens on the windows. There is a tube in one of the outside bays that has screens for light reduction. These snap onto the surface of the coach to reduce the incoming light. They are said to reduce the incoming light by 95 percent.
I also have an air compressor in another bay.
